Violet tungsten oxide powder may be applied for producing heat insulation coating. And this type of thermal insulation coating has been gradually applied to places requiring high heat insulation and high visible light transmittance such as buildings and automobiles.
Ultrafine tungsten powder and ultrafine tungsten carbide powder can be obtained by using violet tungsten oxide, yellow tungsten oxide and blue tungsten oxide as raw materials separately (under the same hydrogen reduction and carbonization process conditions).
Tungsten oxides including violet tungsten oxide, yellow tungsten oxide and blue tungsten oxide were prepared by the same batch of APT under the same hydrogen reduction process. And it was found that the tungsten powder prepared by violet tungsten oxide was much finer and more uniform than that of yellow tungsten oxide and blue tungsten oxide. Ultrafine tungsten powder with a BET particle size of 0.08μm and ultrafine tungsten carbide powder with a BET particle size of 0.15~0.25μm can be prepared by using a conventional process of violet tungsten oxide. The particle size and particle size distribution of tungsten carbide powder mainly depend on the raw material - tungsten powder. Only ultrafine and uniform tungsten powder can produce ultrafine and uniform tungsten carbide powder.
