Nano violet tungsten oxide powder may be used for manufacturing infrared thermal insulation nano material, which is applied to building and automobile fields for high heat insulation and high visible light transmittance.

The violet tungsten oxide was used as a raw material, and tungsten powder was reduced in a hydrogen atmosphere, and then the morphology of violet tungsten oxide and tungsten powder after ultrasonic dispersion was observed. In the image below, (a) is the morphology of a single particle of violet tungsten oxide after ultrasonic dispersion. The long needle-like particles of violet tungsten have been broken into short rods with a growth line parallel to the long axis. In the above image, (b) shows that there are few single crystal particles in the dispersed tungsten powder. Most of them are in the form of polycrystalline particles, and the shape is mostly chain or bamboo. This is caused by the needle-like crystals characteristic of violet tungsten oxide, which are bent due to the different orientations of tungsten grains during growth. The crystal grains are connected by grain bonds through the grain boundaries, so ultrasonic waves cannot continue to disperse them.
