Nano violet tungsten oxide powder may be used to prepare thermal insulation paper, which is transparent for thermal insulation in architectural glass and automotive glass. Violet tungsten oxide can also be used to prepare submicron tungsten powder by cycle reduction-oxidation method. By three times of reduction and twice oxidation of violet tungsten oxide, submicron tungsten powder having a particle size concentration of between 0.21 and 1.05μm can be prepared. The coarse particles in the submicron tungsten powder are largely reduced.
The particle size of the first oxidation of the tungsten powder to tungsten trioxide is significantly thinner than that of the violet tungsten oxide, the coarse particles are largely reduced and the distribution is relatively uniform. However, there is a significant agglomeration phenomenon due to the finer particle size of the first oxidation to tungsten trioxide. The particle size of tungsten powder after the second reduction was not significantly thinner than the particle size of the first reduction tungsten powder. It is shown that the particle size of the second oxidized tungsten trioxide is finer than the particle size of the first oxidation to tungsten trioxide. However, its particle size distribution is very scattered and there is no concentrated area. This is mainly due to the obvious agglomeration of the tungsten trioxide, so that the measured particle size is not the size of the single tungsten trioxide particle, but the size of tungsten trioxide agglomerated particles measured. The particle size of tungsten powder after the third reduction is much finer than the particle size of the tungsten powder after the second reduction. The tungsten powder is very fine with clear agglomeration phenomenon, so that the measured particle size is not a single tungsten powder particle, but the size of the tungsten powder agglomerated particle.
