Nanometer violet tungsten oxide may be applied for producing near-infrared shielding material. Violet tungsten oxide can be prepared by APT light reduction method. In this process, other process conditions remain unchanged:
1. If the furnace temperature is relatively high, the morphology of the formed violet tungsten oxide is rod-like crystal.
2. If the furnace temperature is relatively low, the morphology of the obtained violet tungsten oxide is needle-shaped crystal.
Both rod-like crystal and needle-shaped crystal are intrinsic crystal forms of violet tungsten oxide. Through the reduction test, it was found that the tungsten powder obtained by using the violet tungsten oxide of needle-shaped crystal was finer, and the tungsten powder obtained by the violet tungsten oxide of rod-shaped crystal was relatively coarse. Therefore, in the production practice, through process adjustment, the violet tungsten oxide of needle-shaped crystal should be produced to meet the needs of finer grain size tungsten powder production. Fine particle size tungsten powder can be used to prepare fine grain size cemented carbide with excellent properties. Moreover, the market for fine-grained hard alloys is expanding, which means that the demand for fine tungsten powder will also increase. And violet tungsten oxide is as well.
