Blue nano tungsten oxide may be applied for preparing heat insulation coating, and therefore be widely used in construction and automotive for high heat insulation and high visible light transmittance. Certainly, blue tungsten oxide powder has a wider range of uses, such as, preparation of tungsten powder. As tungsten powder is the raw material for many downstream tungsten products, manufacturers have also studied the preparation of tungsten powder in more depth.
They reduce the blue tungsten oxide powder in hydrogen with a purity of 99.99% and a dew point of less than -40°C. And tungsten powder reduced from blue tungsten oxide is oxidized to tungsten trioxide in air. The obtained tungsten trioxide is then reduced in hydrogen. And then, the samples are analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a laser particle size analyzer. The results showed that medium tungsten powder with particle size distribution between 3~10μm (accounting for 83.86%) and specific surface area of 0.180m2/g is prepared by once oxidation and twice reductions.
