Nano blue tungsten oxide may not only be applied for producing infrared absorption material, but also be added to the sintered tungsten skeleton for increasing the density of the tungsten skeleton after copper infiltration. When the skeleton added blue tungsten oxide powder is reduced and sintered under the H2 atmosphere, the blue tungsten oxide is reduced to fine grain size tungsten powder. While if fine particle size tungsten powder is directly added to the sintered tungsten skeleton, the density of the obtained skeleton after copper infiltration is rather low.
What should be noted is that the skeleton added with blue tungsten oxide has lower oxygen content. This is because blue tungsten oxide produces a certain amount of water vapor during the reduction process, so that the blank is in an oxidation-reduction atmosphere. The tungsten powder in the blank is activated on the surface during the oxidation-reduction process, and the oxide layer on the surface can be more sufficiently removed to lower the oxygen content of skeleton. If fine grain tungsten powder is added, the oxygen content of the skeleton is increased as the specific surface of fine tungsten powder is large and the surface cannot be sufficiently reduced.
