Blue tungsten oxide powder, or WO2.92, may be used to produce heat-insulating glass window film and can be applied for the preparation of ultrafine tungsten powder. Some scholars have studied the main four phase transitions in the reduction process of blue tungsten oxide, namely, β-tungsten oxide→γ-tungsten oxide→tungsten dioxide→tungsten powder. The following mainly focuses on the reduction process from tungsten dioxide to tungsten powder. The morphology image of tungsten oxide in this process is as follows, wherein the left shows the particle morphology of tungsten dioxide (×1000), and the right shows the particle morphology of tungsten powder (×3000).
As can be seen from the above images, the particle morphology of tungsten powder hardly changes from tungsten dioxide to tungsten powder reduction process, and a tungsten dioxide crystal grain becomes a tungsten powder crystal grain. Therefore, the change process of particle morphology of tungsten powder mainly occurs before the formation of tungsten dioxide. That is to say, the reduction process from tungsten dioxide to tungsten powder is not a key process to control the particle size of tungsten powder. Therefore, to obtain the required tungsten powder, the process conditions before this process must be controlled.
