Tungsten oxide nanoparticles are important raw materials for the preparation of heat insulation coating, which has been widely applied to energy saving reconstruction of building, thus the preparation of nano tungsten oxide has attracted much attention. Experts synthesized a series of tungsten oxide nano particles by changing the type of solvent in the solvothermal precursor (including ethanol, isopropanol, n-propanol), reaction temperature, reaction time, and molar concentration of the solution. The obtained tungsten oxide nanopowder was confirmed to be W18O49 crystal of monoclinic phase by XRD. At the same time, by comparing the SEM photographs of the products under different reaction conditions, it is found that the kind of alcohol solvent is the main reason for changing the morphology of tungsten oxide nano particles: when ethanol and isopropanol are used, the particle size of tungsten oxide nanospheres is 500nm-1μm; when n-propanol is used as the alcohol solvent, spindle-shaped tungsten oxide nano particles with a rod length of about 300nm-500nm and a cross-sectional diameter of about 150nm are obtained. Experts said that other factors such as temperature, time, and alcohol solution concentration can also affect the morphology of tungsten oxide.
