WO2.72 nanorods can be prepared by the hydrothermal method using H2WO4 and Na2SO4 as raw materials at 160°C for 24 h. The WO2.72 nanorods can also be synthesized hydrothermally by reducing the (NH4)xWO3+x/2 and using sulfate as a capping agent in an atmosphere of H2 (5 vol%)/N2 at 500°C for 1 h. Besides, the WO2.72 nanowires can be synthesized by a simple solvothermal method using WCl6 and ethanol solution under 180°C for 10-24 h. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide has also been used as a growth-directing agent to fabricate WO2.72 nanowires. In addition, the WO2.72 nanofibers can be fabricated by using WCl6 with oleic acid and 2.5 mL tri-n-octylamine under 350°C for 1 h. And the WO2.72 nanowire bundles can be synthesized with WCl6 and propanol solvent at 200°C for 9 h, and the product was annealed in air at 250–450 °C for 2 h.
