Cesium Tungsten Oxide Applied for Functional Film

Cesium tungsten oxide has excellent near-infrared shielding properties and UV shielding properties so that it is often applied for preparing a dingal film. Generally, such a thin dingal film is also known as a thermal insulation film, a near-infrared shielding film, a heat shielding film or an energy saving film. Also, the raw material cesium tungsten oxide (Cs0.33WO3) can be used to synthesize UV-cured coating.

For example, some experts used three kinds of acrylate monomers, diluent, photohardenable monomer, hydrophobic silicone monomer and cesium tungsten oxide (Cs0.33WO3) to synthesize UV-cured coatings. The coatings storage stability, the film mechanical properties and hydrophobic/thermal insulating abilities were investigated by different proportion of acrylate monomers, silicone and Cs0.33WO3. The results showed that adding Cs0.33WO3 powders could improve powders’ dispersion during the coating process. Coatings’ storage stability and films’ adhesion/hardness properties both increased with increasing proportion of hard monomer. Increasing the concentration of silicone monomer, resulted in the increasing water contact angle, but the adhesion and hardness of the films were decreased. Near-infrared shielding properties improved with increasing concentration of Cs0.33WO3 powders, but the visible light transmittance of the film was decreased. And there is no obvious effect on films’ adhesion and hardness at the amount of Cs0.33WO3 powders.
