Cs0.32WO3 Applied for Smart Glass

Cs0.32WO3 is well-known as cesium tungsten bronze, which has excellent near-infrared shielding property for producing heat insulation coating. And the prepared transparent coating is mainly coated on the glass substrate to obtain smart glass with high transparency and excellent NIR shielding performance. According to the experts, they have successfully synthesized Cs0.32WO3 nanoparticles via a hydrothermal method using sodium tungstate and cesium carbonate as raw materials, and citric acid and D-malic acid as mixed reducing agents.

The results of XRD and SEM show that the sample with Cs/W (molar ratio)?=?0.5 promotes formation of hexagonal Cs0.32WO3 with high crystallinity during hydrothermal synthesis. Moreover, with increasing reaction time, the morphology of the sample changes from irregular-shaped nanoparticles to rod-like nanoparticles. Cesium tungsten bronze powders with high crystallinity and rod-like morphology have high near-infrared absorption. And the smart window prepared by coating the Cs0.32WO3 coating on the surface of glass has high NIR shielding performance of 89%. It means that cesium tungsten bronze can change an ordinary glass into a smart glass for energy saving.
