According to the experts, it is the mixed chemical valence tungsten ions (W5+ and W6+) in cesium tungsten bronze that make it exhibit excellent near infrared shielding ability in a wide range of 800-2500 nm (The near infrared light accounts for up to 52% of the photo-energy of sunlight.). And the nanosize homogenous rod-like tungsten bronze CsxWO3 with excellent NIR shielding ability can be successfully synthesized by a novel and facile water controlled-release solvothermal process (WCRSP).
